Abstract

There is evidence that novice drivers are unable to perform the curve negotiation as accurately as expert drivers. This study attempted to demonstrate this difference using the Leeds Driving Simulator. The results were similar to on-road studies, in that novices were significantly more likely to weave in lane, to wander out of lane more often and to have shorter time to line crossings. These findings provide a useful behavioural validation to the Leeds Driving Simulator.
